Newborn
A newborn session is a unique chance to capture your precious babies' tiniest features while they are still sleepy and curled up. The first two weeks works the best for these shots, before their first growth spurt. (However if your baby is already over two weeks it's possible to do a mix of newborn and 3 month style photos.)
The session is two hours long but can last up to two and a half hours depending on the baby's temperament and how hungry and sleepy they are. Family shots can add an extra half hour onto the session time. I recommend bringing them in just before a feed and feeding them here at the beginning of the session. This can make for some lovely close up and breastfeeding shots.

You may be surprised to find that many of my newborn images are actually composites. A composite image is an images made up of more than one photograph.
For example, the photos above are actually photographs of a baby lying on a beanbag. I asked parents to put their hands under baby while never picking baby up off the beanbag. Taking out the creases in the material makes the black look like a backdrop and that the babies were being held in the air when, in reality, they were always lying on a beanbag.
The photograph below are actually made up of various photographs taken with mum/dad supporting the baby's head at all times. Babies' heads and necks are very delicate and they are unable to hold their heads in this way without being fully supported.

Including other family members in the photoshoot is lovely. There are a few poses and holds that look better than others. Candid photographs of your baby while being fed, soothed and cuddled during sessions are truly ones to treasure as well as the more posed ones. Breastfeeding is always welcome and the photographs are great as a keepsake for this special time and special bond. The photographs tend to be discrete and won't be published without specific permission. Feeding your baby (either by breast or bottle) can also be a lovely time to get closeups of your baby's precious features.
I offer a variety of different props and setups. I love to make these personalises so if there is any special theme or toy that you want included, be sure to let me know!
Pictured below are some composite images. There is a photograph of a baby lying in a hoop. This is a *composite* image which means that it is photoshopped and the baby was never, at any stage, suspended. The suspended hoop is a separate image and I put the images together in post production.
